At Grove Farm we
welcome groups
of people, not only Schools but also youth groups, U3A, WI, etc,
to visit our Farm for an educational tour of the farm by
ourselves.
These tours take approximately two/three hours, and as we walk from
field
to field Tim and I explain about how we manage our animals and
the
landscape. At the end of the tour we have a question and answer
session
whilst sitting in the garden or tea room by which time we hope everyone
will have a greater understanding of where their food comes from.
Subjects covered:- Hens (eggs), Sheep (lamb & wool), Cattle (beef), Pigs (pork & bacon), Ponies, old & new farm buildings, fruit trees, watercourses, hedgerow management, climate change, etc. Most subjects on the school curriculum can be covered on a Farm Visit. We have plenty of parking facilities, toilets and handwashing
and the
use of our Tea Room in the event of poor weather. Visits can be
arranged
at times to suit the particular group but preferably not on a 'market
day'. Costs: Farm trail (self-guided walk) Adults £3.00 Children £1.50 (under 2 free) Educational tour (approx. 2 hours) - Groups of 6 or more. The
